This Privacy Policy explains how Boardhouse (“Boardhouse,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our website, application, and related services, including boardhouse.app.

Boardhouse is a storyboard organization and collaboration tool for directors, production teams, agencies, and creative teams. Users can upload storyboard frames, organize boards, add notes, invite collaborators, create review links, collect comments, and export decks.

By using Boardhouse, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, information created through your use of Boardhouse, and limited technical information collected automatically.

Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Profile image, if uploaded
  • Login credentials or authentication information
  • Workspace or project information
  • Subscription status and plan information

Project and Content Information

When you use Boardhouse, you may upload, create, or store:

  • Storyboard frames and images
  • PDFs and other uploaded project files
  • Project names and metadata
  • Board descriptions, dialogue, VO, supers, notes, and comments
  • Review links and client feedback
  • Collaborator names, emails, roles, and permissions
  • Export settings and related project activity

You retain ownership of the content you upload to Boardhouse.

Billing Information

If you purchase a paid subscription, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.

We may receive and store limited billing-related information from Stripe, such as:

  • Stripe customer ID
  • Stripe subscription ID
  • Plan status
  • Billing status
  • Payment success or failure events
  • Subscription cancellation status

Technical Information

We may collect technical information such as:

  • Browser type
  • Device type
  • IP address
  • Operating system
  • Referring pages
  • Pages visited
  • Approximate location based on IP address
  • Log data
  • Error reports
  • Usage events, such as project creation, board uploads, review link creation, export actions, collaboration activity, and feature usage

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate Boardhouse

  • Save and display storyboard projects

  • Clerk, for authentication and user management

  • Analytics, logging, or error-monitoring tools, if enabled

4. Project Content and Client Materials

Boardhouse is designed for creative and production workflows. You may upload content that belongs to you, your company, your clients, or your collaborators.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload, share, comment on, and export any content you add to Boardhouse.

We do not claim ownership of your storyboard frames, project files, notes, comments, or other uploaded materials.

We may access project content only when necessary to:

  • Provide the service
  • Debug technical issues
  • Respond to support requests
  • Investigate security, abuse, or legal issues
  • Comply with applicable law

5. Exports

Boardhouse allows users to export storyboard decks and related materials.

Unless otherwise stated in the product, exported decks are generated for download and are not stored by Boardhouse as separate persistent files after export. The underlying project files, boards, notes, and metadata may remain stored in your account or workspace until deleted.

6. Review Links

Boardhouse allows users to create client-facing review links.

Depending on your settings, review links may allow others to:

  • View project boards
  • Leave comments or notes
  • Access selected project information
  • View password-protected review pages

You are responsible for deciding who receives review links and whether to enable password protection.

If a review link is shared publicly or forwarded by a recipient, others may be able to access the content depending on the link settings.

7. Collaboration

When you invite collaborators to a project, they may be able to access, view, comment on, or edit project content depending on their role.

Collaborator roles may include:

  • Owner
  • Editor
  • Viewer

You are responsible for managing collaborator access and removing users who should no longer have access.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in
  • Remember preferences
  • Support authentication and security
  • Understand usage
  • Improve performance
  • Provide application features

You can adjust cookie settings in your browser, but some parts of Boardhouse may not work properly if cookies or local storage are disabled.

However, no internet service, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

You should use strong passwords, protect your account credentials, and only share review links with people you trust.

10. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide Boardhouse, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain business records, and improve the service.

If you delete projects or account content, we may retain limited information for backup, security, audit, legal, or operational purposes.

11. Your Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete certain information
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

You may delete projects from within Boardhouse where the feature is available.

You may also request account or data deletion by contacting us at grace@boardhouse.app. We may retain certain information as required or permitted by law, for security, billing, backup, fraud prevention, or legitimate business purposes.

13. Marketing Communications

If you receive marketing emails from us, you may opt out by following the unsubscribe instructions in the email or contacting us.

Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may still send transactional or service-related messages, such as account, billing, security, or product notices.

14. Children’s Privacy

Boardhouse is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at grace@boardhouse.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

15. International Users

Boardhouse is operated from the United States. If you access Boardhouse from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

By using Boardhouse, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

16. Beta Features

Some Boardhouse features may be labeled beta, preview, experimental, or early access. These features may change, break, or be removed as we continue improving the product.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you by email, in-app notice, or by updating the “Last updated” date above.

Your continued use of Boardhouse after the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
