5. User Content

“User Content” means any files, images, storyboards, notes, comments, project names, text, feedback, or other materials you upload, create, share, or store in Boardhouse.

You retain ownership of your User Content.

By using Boardhouse, you grant us a limited license to host, store, process, display, transmit, and otherwise use your User Content only as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Boardhouse.

You represent that you have the necessary rights to upload and use your User Content in Boardhouse.

You agree not to upload content that:

  • Violates someone else’s intellectual property rights
  • Violates privacy, publicity, or confidentiality rights
  • Is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, or harmful
  • Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • You do not have permission to use
  • Violates any agreement, duty, or confidentiality obligation you have to a client, employer, agency, production company, collaborator, or third party

6. Confidential and Client Materials

Boardhouse may be used for production, agency, commercial, film, or client materials.

You are responsible for:

  • Deciding what content to upload
  • Managing collaborator access
  • Managing review links
  • Protecting client confidential materials
  • Ensuring you have permission to share materials with invited users or review link recipients

Boardhouse is a tool for organizing and sharing project materials, but you remain responsible for how those materials are used and shared.

7. Collaborators and Roles

You may invite collaborators to projects.

Collaborators may have different roles, such as owner, editor, or viewer.

You are responsible for assigning the correct role and removing access when a collaborator should no longer have access.

Boardhouse is not responsible for actions taken by collaborators you invite.

8. Review Links

Boardhouse may allow you to create client-facing review links.

You are responsible for:

  • Who receives review links
  • Whether password protection is enabled
  • Whether links are forwarded or shared by others
  • Comments submitted through review links
  • Any client or third-party access you provide

If you create a review link, anyone with access to that link may be able to view the content made available through that link, depending on your settings.

9. Plans, Subscriptions, and Billing

Boardhouse offers a free plan and may offer paid plans, including Boardhouse Pro at $12 per month.

Paid plans may include additional projects, board limits, collaboration features, review links, exports, or other functionality.

Subscription billing is processed by Stripe or another payment provider. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize recurring charges according to the plan you select.

Prices, features, limits, and billing terms may change over time. If we make material changes to paid plans, we will provide notice as required by law or as otherwise described in the service.

10. Free Trials, Coupons, and Promotions

We may offer free trials, coupon codes, beta access, promotional discounts, or limited-time offers.

Promotions may have additional terms, limits, expiration dates, or eligibility requirements.

We may modify or end promotions at any time unless otherwise required by law.

11. Cancellation

You may cancel a paid subscription at any time through the billing portal or by contacting us at grace@boardhouse.app.

Unless otherwise stated, cancellation stops future billing but does not automatically refund prior payments.

After cancellation, your account may remain active until the end of the current billing period. At the end of that period, your workspace may move to a free plan or another available plan.

If your workspace exceeds the limits of the free plan after cancellation, we may restrict new project creation, new board uploads, or certain features. We do not delete existing projects solely because you downgrade or cancel, unless required by law, your request, or these Terms.

12. Refunds

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

If you believe there has been a billing error or would like to request a refund, contact us at grace@boardhouse.app.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, projects, systems, or data
  • Interfere with or disrupt Boardhouse
  • Upload malware, viruses, or malicious files
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where permitted by law
  • Scrape, crawl, or misuse the service
  • Circumvent plan limits, billing rules, or security controls
  • Use Boardhouse to violate the rights of others
  • Upload or share content you do not have the right to use
  • Share review links or collaborator access in a way that violates confidentiality obligations

14. File Uploads and Storage

Boardhouse may limit:

  • File types
  • File sizes
  • Number of boards
  • Storage usage
  • Number of projects
  • Number of collaborators
  • Number of review links
  • Export size or frequency

We may reject, remove, or restrict files that violate these Terms, create security risks, exceed limits, or interfere with the service.

15. Exports

Boardhouse may allow you to export storyboard decks and related materials.

Unless otherwise stated in the product, exported decks are generated for local download and are not stored by Boardhouse as separate persistent files after export. Your underlying project materials, boards, notes, comments, and metadata may remain stored in your account or workspace until deleted.

You are responsible for reviewing exported files before sharing them with clients, collaborators, agencies, or other third parties.

16. Beta Features

Some Boardhouse features may be released as beta, preview, experimental, or early-access features.

Beta features may be incomplete, change over time, or be removed. They may contain bugs or behave unexpectedly.

You use beta features at your own risk.

17. Feedback

If you provide ideas, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback, you grant us permission to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.

This does not give us ownership of your project content.

18. Intellectual Property

Boardhouse, including its software, design, branding, logos, and related materials, is owned by us or our licensors.

Except for your User Content, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works based on Boardhouse unless we give you written permission.

19. Third-Party Services

Boardhouse may use or integrate with third-party services, such as authentication providers, payment processors, hosting providers, storage providers, analytics tools, email providers, or export tools.

Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

20. Service Availability

We try to keep Boardhouse available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

  • You violate these Terms
  • You create security, legal, or operational risk
  • Your payment fails and remains unresolved
  • We are required to do so by law
  • We discontinue the service or certain features

You may stop using Boardhouse at any time.

22. Disclaimers

Boardhouse is provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that Boardhouse will be error-free, secure, uninterrupted, or that it will meet your specific needs.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Boardhouse and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Boardhouse will not exceed the amount you paid us for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or $100 if you have not paid us.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

24. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Boardhouse and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from:

  • Your use of Boardhouse
  • Your User Content
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of law
  • Your violation of third-party rights
  • Your sharing of review links or collaborator access

25. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If we make material changes, we may notify you by email, in-app notice, or by updating the “Last updated” date.

Your continued use of Boardhouse after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.

26. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
